Januvia, a Novel Drug for Type 2 Diabetes, Infixed In Ireland

Type 2 diabetes' patients now can relish more medicinal respite in Ireland as Januvia is finally available on major drug stores. A breakthrough preparation for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, Januvia is recently launched by Merck Sharp & Dohme Ireland (Human Health) Limited in the region.

It acts in a distinctive way and augments natural mechanisms of body in order to remarkably low down the level of blood sugar. More importantly, Januvia does not shower users with lots of side effects that most of the available drugs do.

And it is a crucial development for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in Ireland as under a new Ipsos MORI survey conducted on 100 people having type 2 diabetes, one out of four revealed that their disease is not controlled well.

"In the past few years, the number of diabetic patients has risen notably and the frequency will continue to amplify till the obesity rates keep rising on" says Dr Eamon Twomey, General Practitioner. "The large majority of cases are of type 2 of diabetes and nearly 3,446 are under the grip of this numbing disease in counties Longford and Westmeath alone. And the worst aspect of this disease is that other family members may be affected by the disease if you suffer from it".

"In Ireland 200,000 adults suffer from diabetes which is ample to fill Croke Park twice," stated Anna Clarke, Diabetes Nurse Specialist, Diabetes Federation of Ireland.

The Ipsos MORI survey also revealed that almost 90 percent people were aware of their blood sugar target, 51 per cent didn't had any idea about their blood pressure target and one out of three were not aware of their cholesterol target. Besides, seventy-eight per cent people were managing their ailment with the help of diet, tablets and exercise.
